MCCustomizer ver. 0.5b released

A brief note about the playable demo here on itch. The playable demo uses art from Synty Studios that I own but cannot redistribute within a Unity package. So the demo contained in the source only contains the scripts, two scenes, a material without texture and a prefab without mesh data. If you own the Synty Studios Polygon Modular Fantasy Heroes package for Unity, the prefab and material will update with the required mesh and material data from the pack. Without it, you will need to provide your own modular character pack to test MCCustomizer with. If you need help with that, come to my Discord (link will open in a new tab).

v. 0.5b

  • Launched the new documentation gitbook site. (Link will open in a new tab.)
  • Cleaned up code structure
  • Upgraded and updated in-script documentation
  • Improved the source demo's UI
    • Separating the variants by providing dedicated buttons for each variant (male/female specific buttons for cycling through groups) ensures that MCCustomizer doesn't accidentally change multiple variant at the same time.
    • This lets us treat each variant as if it was its own entity, toggling male customization buttons when looking at the male and switching to the female buttons when working with the female.
    • Updating the color scheme so that it is more accessible to people with color blindness. I am not a professional in this regard, I asked for feedback from Copilot and followed its recommendations in this regard. I will need feedback from people who are colorblind to improve things further.
  • Squashed some minor bugs.

Planned features:

  • Adding support for localization using Unity's localization package
  • Adding support for referencing groups using icons
  • Adding additional support for saving methods beyond Player Prefs
